The paper constructs two different partner selection process models on the base of social capital and knowledge complementarities respectively.Then we build a simple simulation model of innovation networks,and focus on the relationship between the pattern of partner selection and performance of innovation networks.The results show that when innovation is incremental,the dominant source of movement in knowledge space is learning,and the innovation networks based on social capital consideration have more performances than that of the innovation networks on the basis of knowledge complementarities.Whereas in a more disruptive innovation regime,it is innovation that dominates firms' movements in knowledge space,and the innovation networks on the basis of knowledge complementarities perform better.
