Reasonable planning and optimization of meteorological station networks could improve the representativeness,accuracy and comparability of observation data.This paper summarizes research progress in methods for the planning and optimization of meteorological station networks at home and abroad.It points out the key technology and existing problems in planning and optimization of meteorological station networks.It mainly introduces and analyses linear interpolation method,optimum interpolation method,information theory method,factor analysis method and empirical mode method to plan and optimize the meteorological station networks.This paper also summarizes the feasibility of these methods.According to requirement changes of meteorological service,this paper put forward the suggestions for methods of planning and optimization of meteorological station networks.
